Plot

The plotline of the film Aviyal revolves around a music-obsessed man named Krishnan, who was born in Kannur. The film shows the various stages of Krishnan’s life, right from his childhood to his old age. The film shows the evolution of Krishnan in a format of flashback. Analysis

The film’s narration has been done in a very impressive manner, which is less familiar with mainstream films these days. The film shows the various stages a person goes through and how it impacts and shapes them. Aviyal is no different. While the subject is not at all extraordinary, somewhat entirely predictable, the main attracting factor of Aviyal is its narrative and how it focuses on one’s life journey, which is very relatable for the audiences. The best part of Aviyal is that the protagonist, Krishnan is a flawed man like an average person, and he was not painted as a perfect man. He accepted his flaws even while ecounting his experiences to his daughter. This film is not perfect, but it sure is relatable and feels genuine.

Verdict

Aviyal is a coming-of-age film that deserves recognition for its beautiful narration and simple story, which was shown beautifully on the screen. The fact that actor Sirajudeen Nazir went through the physical changes needed to portray the younger version of Krishnan at various stages indeed deserves attention. Sirajudeen Nazir did an excellent job portraying the quirks and growth of the character. The songs of the film, too, are one of the attractive points of Aviyal that should convince you to watch this film.
