Plot

Shalivahana Shakhe is a story about four friends whose lives change when they decide to go to an open well to chill and hangout at one fine day. During this, Ranga happens to find a conch that appears beautiful to him, so he decides to take it with him to gift his girlfriend. This conch has unfathomable otherworldly powers which he was unaware of. All of a sudden, Pandya jumps into the well, but he cannot make it back up. His friends try to save him, but by the time they do, he is already dead. The friends then get worried that they might get in trouble for suspected murder, so they place Pandya’s body in a place where cheetahs frequently roam. At night, after they reach home, Ranga notices the conch glowing. Intrigued at this, he blows on the conch, unconsciously turning back time, and then goes to bed. The next day, he gets an eerie feeling of Deja vu as the situations that had occurred the day before were happening again. Once he realizes that the previous day was repeating, he also realizes that he can prevent Pandya from drowning in the well again. He understands that all this is happening because the conch he brought from the well has otherworldly powers that can turn back the time. Later, he even helps his girlfriend pass her exams by turning back time with the conch.

Star Performance

Girish G. performs very well in his scenes. Chillar Manda also acts convincingly, although his performance could have been more robust.

Analysis

Although time is turned back and situations happen more than once in the film, Girish G. ensures that there is no dull moment. He makes sure of this by creating bigger, profound changes that result from small changes when the time is rewound. However, the friendship between the boys was inconsistent, such as when they were so quick to abandon each other when faced with trouble. It doesn’t make sense because they are supposed to be close friends. The entire idea of the story is excellent, but the execution did not meet the concept’s standard, and the story lacks depth. Most of the actors gave a feeble performance, and even the cast members are too few. If the cast had more members, it would improve the film, along with a more elaborate plot and settings. The settings are so few that it’s evident that the film has been created on a low budget. The background score goes well with the film, and the dialogues are also good.

The drastic changes in situations caused by rewinding the time are thrilling to watch.
The film has a good momentum that keeps building.
The dialogues are good enough.
The background score is pleasing.
