Plot: The story revolves around the lives of a brother-sister and their spouses. Their lives are weaved in lies, sex, jealousy and fraud. It also talks about the happening of high profile crime that has not touched any real life incidents as seen in the newspapers. Fling in some money and possessions and a nosy stranger enter their lives and here comes in the requirement of game and action of one- upmanship. Who ultimately wins?
Analysis: Hegde's films are mostly sprinkled with a lot of masalas which is sufficient to appeal to the target audience. His film Sa also has such interesting elements with a remarkable storyline where you have the entwined lives of four persons in the place named Sakleshpur. This not only adds thrill in the movie but also adds fuel to a tremendous rollercoaster storyline. There is betrayal, obsession, crime, murder, deception and a thrilling mystery which could have well been an edge-of-a-seat suspenseful story for the audience with the plot twists and are nothing short of an Abbas- Mastan thriller.
What’s There?
1) The storyline with the elements of suspense and mystery.
2) Tremendous sound action sequences.
3) Romantic numbers.
What’s Not There?
1) The Proper cinematography on the technical front.
2) Good visual effects.
3) Appropriate comedy scenes.
4) Relevant clothing by the two heroines in the short numbers.
5) Seriousness and dramatic effect that the narrative intended to achieve.
Verdict: On the whole, one only feels regretful, given that this film as a story had great latent and potential but the there was a bit lost in translation. For the viewers who like relationship capers that go ahead of the candy floss type, this could still be a significant visit to the movie theaters taken as that the makers have tried to show a glance into the wicked lives of the rich in the hilly states of Karnataka.
