Plot

‘Dheera Samrat’ happens to be an edge-of-the-seat thriller, that revolves around greed, witchcraft, and vengeance. As quoted in the trailer, ‘If we don’t choose the right track, Karma chooses the right track for us”.

Star Performances

One of the few things good about the film is the camerawork by Arun Suresh. It is the visuals that evoke curiosity, even if for just a few seconds.

The acting performances are also good. The performances from Nagendra Urs and Bala Rajwadi try somehow to make up for the absence of a proper screenplay in this film.

Analysis

‘Dheera Samrat’ is a film that is the complete antithesis of what the title or even the initial visuals claim. The film promises to be an intriguing thriller, with elements of witchcraft and vengeance seamlessly integrated.

However, the execution of director cum writer Pavan Kumar is far from impressive. The screenplay of the film suffers from an identity crisis, utterly confused about which theme to adopt.

Initially, the film happens to be another action drama that loosely reminds of an old action film, ‘ Arjun Click to look into! >> Read More... ’. Subsequently, the film resorts to the elements of witchcraft, and then comes down to vengeance. Eventually, most of the viewers will be left confused as to what the film intends to achieve.

It’s not only about bad writing, the film is a literal mess. Some of the acting performances make you wonder whether the actors were even interested in this project at all. The editing is at best forgettable, and the production designs are far from impressive.

Is there anything good about the film? Yes, in some places, the camerawork. During the action scenes, the makers give it their all to make the film watchable. The acting performances are just about okay. Only the likes of Nagendra Urs and Bala Rajwadi go out of their way to make this film somehow watchable.

Verdict

‘Dheera Samrat’ is a film that aims to hit multiple targets with a single stone. However, in terms of execution, writer cum director Pavan Kumar completely missed the bullseye. To an extent, the cinematography, and some acting performances salvaged this film. Watch it only if you have lots of time to spare!
