The Accidental Prime Minister is a biopic scripted by Mayank Tewari and directed by Vijay Ratnakar Gutte. The film is based on the book penned by Sanjaya Baru, the political commentator. Rudra Production and Pen India Limited produced the film. Sudip Roy and Sadhu Tiwari composed the music. Sachin Krishn cranked the camera and Praveen KL edited the film. The film stars Anupam Kher, Akshaye Khanna, Suzanne Bernert, Divya Seth Shah, Aahana Kumra, Arjun Mathur, Abdul Quadir, Vimal Verma, Avter Saini, Anil Rastogi, Ajit Satbhai and Chitragupta Sinha.
The film is about the former Indian Prime Minister, Manmohan Singh, his political stance and his relationship with Sanjaya Baru, his media advisor. The film focuses mainly about Sanjaya and his support to Manmohan Singh. The UPA government’s nuclear deal and the spectrum cases are also dealt. Do watch the film on the silver screen!
Anupam Kher impresses us with his performance. While watching the film, we will gradually, get into the story and travel with them. Akshaye’s performance is extraordinary. Similarly, Divya Seth has given out a good performance. Suzanne Bernert, the German actress, had rendered her best as Sonia Gandhi.
Although it is taken from Sanjaya’s book, the director’s part is also important. The debutant director Vijay Ratnakar Gutte has done an excellent job and the audience could never feel that it is by a debutant director. The narration is clear throughout the film, except a very few places. Similarly, we have to appreciate the team for not changing the original names of the politicians. 2G spectrum case is also dealt and the film entertains us throughout without boring.
What’s Not There?
In total, the Accidental Prime Minister is a watch worthy movie for its content and the performances.
