His short documentary film based on the sufferings of the Kashmiri Pandits and also the documentary "And the World Remained Silent” features the pain and burden of the people who are considered to be refugees in their own country. The film has been passed on around the world in the International film festivals. He has made many more such films based on social awareness. Ashoke also owns a Production house "Shaarika Images", which is named after his daughter. Ashoke is married to a Playback singer Neerja Pandit and they have two children, a son named Raj and a daughter named Shaarika.
