Plot
Shuttlecock Boys is a film that revolves around the lives and friendship of four lifelong friends. These friends are Gaurav, Manav, Pankaj, and Loveleen. They all have lower-middle-class backgrounds and hail from Delhi. The four friends are united by their love for badminton and every evening they meet up and play the game, this strengthens their bond. In the film, the four friends are stuck in the wrong jobs while dreaming about achieving their most desired goals. During one of their evening badminton sessions, one of the four boys come up with the idea of starting their own catering business. The four friends are in mutual agreement and decide to team up to form a catering company from scratch. Manav takes the role of the cook, Pankaj is in charge of accounts, Loveleen is in charge of pitching to companies, and last of all, Gaurav oversees every step. The film shows that they initially struggle and the rest of the film shows whether they overcome all the challenges posed against them.
Star Performance
Aakash Kaushik performs excellently and has very natural expressions.
Manish Nawani is confident in his acting and gives a compelling performance.
Analysis
The theme of friendship stays strong and consistent throughout the film as the director refrains from adding any unnecessary romantic scenarios. The actors chosen for this film are new, and still, they have impressed us with their natural, convincing performances. Even the chemistry between the friends does not seem forced and is very natural. The background score used in the film enhances and complements the uplifting mood of the film. However, the positivity in the movie is so much so that it tends to feel overflowing with pretentious positivity, which could make it feel overbearing for some watchers. This overly optimistic feel of the film also seems to downplay the struggle the friends have to go through to reach their dreams.
