Star Performance

The horror genre is not new to Akshay. He was already seen in Bhool Bhulaiyaa Click to look into! >> Read More... Bhool Bhulaiyaa with Vidya Balan Vidya Balan is an award winning Bollywood actress >> Read More... Vidya Balan . But, Laxmii is completely different from Bhool Bhulaiyaa. Akshay has done his part well. Sharad Kelkar has done justice to the given role. Kiara and others are okayish. But, it is the script and screenplay that didn’t impress.

Analysis

The film comes with some small changes from that of the original version. The Tamil version was a super hit. That’s the reason for the remake. But, Laxmii didn’t impress the audience due to its lagging screenplay. The audience feels that the script is stereotyped. Horror comedy movies had been received well by the audience. Yet, there should be some difference in the basic concept. Although the star cast is good and the film is technically sound, the characterization and scripting made the people lose their interest. The music and cinematography are okayish.

What’s There?

  • Akshay’s presence and performance
  • Sharad Kelkar has done a good job

What’s Not There?

  • Same old horror concept
  • The characterization should have been better

Verdict

Although the film has a strong cast, the basic concept is not much impressive. When it was expected that the film might impress the audience as it did in the Tamil version, it disappoints. If you are a fan of Akshay or the horror-comedy genre, then you could try it once.
