CAST & CREW
First let’s not talk about Priyanka’s performance in Jai Gangaajal for a while. Having said that, she is surely the cynosure of all eyes now. Be it her noteworthy performance in the American TV series Quantico or her recent presentation at the Oscars, she has proved her mettle, in a determined manner. And not to miss her chance to work in the Hollywood movie Baywatch. Now she has come again to stun us with a plump role in Jai Gangaajal, which released today. The trailers of the movie too got a good response from the viewers. Now let’s see what way the movie elevates the careers of Prakash Jha and Priyanka Chopra.
Abha Mathur, played by Priyanka Chopra, is a senior police officer, who is credited with being the first ever SP of Bankipur, situated in Bihar. This lady is surely an upright cop, and she cannot stand corruption. Hence, she goes on a mission to punish the corrupt politician Manav Kaul. But is this as easy as it is in the paper? Will she brave all odds and emerge a winner in teaching a lesson the corrupt politician, and also the police who turn against her? Watch the movie to get these answers.
Priyanka Chopra has given a mind-blowing performance, and this film will not disappoint her fans. The way in which she delivers her, dialogues are also praise-worthy. And not to miss the punches she gives to the wrong-doers! She also turns a winner in giving that earnest look of a dedicated cop. Prakash Jha, the director of this film, has endeavored into acting. Prakash Jha has a powerful role, and he is impressive as the man who changes sides (for good) in the latter half. Well, it’s heartening to see a director doing well as an actor. Manav Kaul, Rahul Bhatt Ninad Kamat, and Murli Sharma ably support.
It’s heartening that Bollywood is witnessing a trend where women are given meaty roles. In some films, the women have the lion’s share while in others the women have an equally meaty role as that of the male protagonist. Jai Gangaajal falls under the second category.
Prakash Jha is one director who touches on the issues of the current political and social system. Jai Gangaajal is also one such film. The movie, which claims to be a sequel to the blockbuster Gangaajal, which was released in 2003, takes a tour between the relationship shared between the cops and the society.
What’s not there?
You tend to get confused with the way all the social issues are blended in the movie.
