“Hum Hai Raahi Car Ke” has a similar sounding name as the 1993 Mahesh Bhatt Filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt created a niche for himself >> Read More... movie, but except for both being romantic comedies, there is nothing more in common between them. The only novelty of this film is perhaps the fact that everything happens during a single day’s journey though at times one feels the pace could have been a little more brisk.

Plot: “Hum Hai Raahi Car Ke” is apparently titled that way because it is supposed to tell us about a journey undertaken by two who are supposed to be best friends - a call centre executive, Priyanka portrayed by Adah Sharma Adah Sharma is an Indian actress and a model. She >> Read More... and her bachelor neighbor Shammy enacted by Dev Goel Dev Goel is an actor and a writer by profession in >> Read More... . Both of them are portrayed as weirdly comic characters, with Priyanka being overheard shooing off a client with the statement “…'beauty creams' are for external use only “, while Shammi is seen romping around everywhere in his colourful underwear, of which he seems to be extremely fond - even sniffing them at times.

No wonder, therefore, that when the eccentric Shammi suddenly decides on New Year Eve, to attend a marriage at Pune and asks Priyanka to join him, she finds it perfectly normal to accept the idea, although she does not seem to have a clue as to who is getting married. The main events happen during the road trip they undertake to Pune, as they pass through seemingly or supposedly comic situations that hold up the journey at several points on the route. The eccentric Shammi even appears to be so dimwitted that he even gets scared by a man very imperfectly dressed as a gorilla. On the other side, Priyanka seems to display an equal deficiency of grey matter when she gets scared of a boy dressed as Spiderman! At the end of all these inanities, they reach their destination when the sun had already set, and only then it dawned on them that they were really made for each other!

Dev Goel, the film’s lead actor, is a new comer, but there were expectations from him, being the grandson of veteran film maker Devendra Goel Devendra Goel was an Indian film director and prod >> Read More... and son of the director of this film, Jyotin Goel Jyotin Goel is a well-known director and author. H >> Read More... . Jyotin is of course not a total newcomer, having also tried his hand at animation films in the past. However, in this film, the enjoyable, humorous spots are only a few and far between.

Even on the acting front, the film can only lay claim to the appearance in guest roles of some leading names like Sanjay Dutt July 29, 1959, was the day when the two legends of >> Read More... , Juhi Chawla Juhi Chawla is a renowned Indian actress and produ >> Read More... and Anupam Kher Anupam Kher is a very popular actor, director, and >> Read More... . However, due to the total absence of a plot and a credible screenplay, they can do little to salvage the film, handicapped as they are with the inexperienced lead pair failing to deliver. The way the hero Dev Goel keeps on a flashing a meaningless smile, at times it appears he may be blushing at having forgotten his lines. There is hardly anything significant left to say about the rest of the credits, except that the songs sound pleasant on the ears but do not linger much beyond the ending of the film.

Verdict: Even for those whose laugh buds get tickled easily it would take quite a bit of trying to bring out that laughter while watching this movie.
