Khanak Budhiraja and Akshay Oberoi have done their best to make this film watchable.
Apart from them, the writers of this movie also deserve a pat on their backs for daring to bring out an untold social evil to light.
Analysis
As said in many schoolbooks, ‘Charity begins from home’. This simply means that if you want to change, you should start it from your home itself.
‘Ek Kori Prem Katha’ is a movie that talks about the practice of Kori, which is a local tradition of testing one’s virginity. The rest of the movie revolves around one girl’s promise to end this unfair practice.
The cinematographers have done a decent job with the subject, adding a rustic charm with their camerawork. The writers of this movie have been equally brilliant with their basic ideas for the story. If only the execution by the director was as impressive.
‘Ek Kori Prem Katha’ could have been a trend setter like ‘Padman’ or even ‘Jaya Jaya Jaya Hey’. However, the direction wasn’t upto the mark, and it certainly did not do justice with the story. The below average editing only makes the case worse.
However, the acting performances by the lead pair of Khanak Budhiraja and Akshay Oberoi try to make up for it. Both have done justice to their roles. The supporting cast [which includes Raj Babbar and Poonam Dhillon] also did a decent job, though they added nothing special to the film.

‘Ek Kori Prem Katha’ could have been so much more. The movie had a fresh concept, the performances of the lead pair were brilliant. All it needed was good direction, which is where this movie fell short. You can still watch this film if you like something different.
