Plot

Bicycle Days is a tender reminder of the loving and peaceful times during one’s childhood. The movie focuses on the life of Aashish, an innocent kid with aspirations of his own. He just wants to blend in with his friends and attend a new school like all of them. But his parents are unwilling to send him away and want Aashish to continue without his friends. Just like any other child Aashish fears missing out on opportunities and is devastated.

It doesn’t even help that Aashish is not granted a bicycle under the government scheme, he was counting on it. Soon, due to all the mishaps starts losing interest in school and education. The viewers are then introduced to Shekhar Chaudhary, a young schoolteacher, who tries to help Aashish. He acts as a guiding light to Aashish when everything seems to fall apart.

Will Shekhar’s help rekindle Aashish’s love for education?

Star Performances

Bicycle Days condition the viewers to relive their childhood memories with its exceptionally talented child cast and new faces. Darshit Khanwe who portrays Aashish has done a phenomenal job as someone who has just commenced his career. As a kid, he delivered a great performance and his efforts deserve all the appreciation.

Analysis

Bicycle Days is a movie that feels like a hug from the good old days. Through it’s simplistic approach it touches the heart of the audience as it highlights the good and bad about growing up. It dwells on a child’s struggle to cope up with new changes and accept the reality of life. This film is a heart-warming gesture but has some loopholes too.

The initial half of the movie introduces us to a major conflict in a structured manner. The visual scapes and scenery are a retreat for the viewers. But this movie shies away from showing the actual plight of childhood struggles. It does address a pressing issue but the execution of resolutions lacks thought. It touches on the surface of societal norms but doesn’t dwell into the crux of the existing problem.

• Attempts to throw light on existing societal issues.

What’s not There?

• No definite resolution is observed.

• Abrupt ending of the movie isn’t appreciated by the audience.

Verdict

Bicycle Days is truly an emotional coaster that takes us on trip down the memory lane. With it’s simple storyline and exceptionally talented cast, this movie falters very little. Do give it a shot, you will not be disappointed.
