The Lorax Movie Review

The Lorax is a 2012 computer-animated 3D musical fantasy comedy film and was based on Dr.Seuss’s children book of the same name. The film was released to celebrate the birthday of Dr.Seuss.

Plot: Ted Wiggins (played by Zac Effron), is an idealistic 12-year-old boy, who lives in “Thneed village”, a walled city that, aside from the citizens is completely artificial: everything in their world is made of plastic, metal or synthetics. Ted hopes to win the love of his dream girl, and so he embarks his journey to find out that one thing that will win him the affection of Audrey(played by Taylor Swift Taylor Swift is the big name in the music industry >> Read More... ), i.e., a real tree. So Ted seeks out the Once-Ler, an old business person who lives outside of a town in a stark wasteland. But upon hearing of how his greed for profits resulted in the devastation of the land, Ted is inspired to undo the disaster. However, the evil Mayor of Thneed- village, Aloysius O’Hare, is making his fortune by exploiting the environment and when he comes to know about Ted’s plans to stop everything the mayor is determined to stop him at any cost.

Analysis: Zac Effron and Taylor Swift, have done a great job in lending their voice to these sweet and loving animated characters. Music of the film is quite well composed and to have two of great singers Taylor Swift, and Zac Effron act in the movie is like having a cherry on top of a cake.

Star Performances: It’s difficult to find out star performances in an animated film. Taylor Swift and ZacEffron have given their voices superbly, and the emotions and passion in their voices are what keeps you engaged in the film is what makes you watch beautiful journey.

What’s there? 

• Beautiful visuals and a great concept of everything being made out of materials like metal, plastic, etc.

• Amazing songs in the picture (music by John Powell and songs by John Powell and Cinco Paul).

• Emotions can easily be seen in the voices of lead actors (Zac Effron and Taylor Swift).

What’s not there? 

• Even though the film seems to be having a different concept in the beginning, in the end, it, however, comes down the same old “Good vs. bad.”

• At a run time of just 86 minutes, the film looks way too short.

Verdict: Do watch this film if you want to have just a good time with your family and listen to groovy songs. Film will surely not disappoint in that sense and the sweet visuals of the movie definitely, makes it a one time watch for sure.
