Plot

Set around the time when warlords fought ruthlessly for land and capital. Hou a cruel man, who resolves to tricks and brutality gets what he wants, but facing the death of his daughter disturbs him. Hou in remorse of his deeds and takes refuge in a Shaolin camp where he meets Wudao, the cook monk. He learns to control his temper and decides to walk on the path of peace. He eventually begins to practice martial arts which enable him to stand against the torments of his brother and free his men from the brutalities. The scenario takes a drastic turn and changes the entire game plan. Watch the movie to know!

Analysis

The direction is commendable, and the quality of movie making, action sequences and acting are top notches. The movie is high on spirit and uplifts the moral quotient. The change of heart of Cao boosts the spirit of the movie. It is the essence of a package that has action, drama, and ethics.

Star Performance

Andy Lau's performance gets high acclaim for his spectacular portrayal of the warlord Hou. His transformation from a ruthless warlord to the peace-loving monk gives composure to the audience. The martial arts choreography binds every character in the movie, and all the supporting cast made the film a must watch.
