Plot: Percy is a young modern day teenage who realises he is a demigod. He starts on an errand to save his mother and stop the war between Gods by finding the stolen lightning bolt of Zeus.
What you may like:
1. It is a modern day adaptation of a Greek mythology about Poseidon which is fun to watch and brings about a curiosity about linking modern day characters with the characters of mythology.
2. It is an adaptation of the book. But it's better if you haven't read the book. This will make you like the movie.
3. There are a few very good moments in the movie that may make you enjoy the whole setup of the movie.
4. The movie is brilliantly paced and is extremely fast leaving you on the edge of your seats always.
5. The special effects in the movie are well done and the actors have done a fairly good job. This makes the movie interesting.
What you may dislike:
1. The editing of the movie seemed full of flaws. With a lot of glitches here and there, it really should've been watched with a more vigilant eye by the editor before running this movie on screen.
2. The director, who was earlier credited for the first two Harry Potter movies wasn't able to pull through this Greek mythology well. He left and added many things that weren't called for, making this movie an amalgamation of unimportant ideas and scenes.
3. If you read the book and then watch the movie, you will be severely disappointed due to the flawed adaptation by the directors. On the contrary, if you don't read the book and watch it, you might end up being flustered about exactly what is happening and what the characters are saying in the movie.
4. This film is predictable rendering it to be boring due to a clichéd plot.
Verdict: The movie doesn't do justice to the amazingly well presented Greek mythology in the book, therefore making it flawed.
