. Misconduct was released in a limited release through video on demand by Lionsgate Premiere on February 5, 2016. The movie has a runtime of 1 hour and 46 minutes.
Plot
The movie follows the story of a lawyer named Ben Cahill who finds himself trapped in a web of conspiracy, deceit, and blackmail after he agrees to represent a corrupt executive of a pharmaceutical company.
Star Performances
Anthony Hopkins gave a stellar performance, but the rest of the cast was average.
Analysis
Misconduct is a thriller film that aimed to captivate the audience with its twists and turns, but unfortunately, it fails to do so. Instead, the film takes a series of disastrous turns, causing the quality of the film to decline with each event. It may also bore the audience at times. The only redeeming aspects of the film are the excellent performance by Anthony Hopkins and the plot twist that occurs at the end of the climax. While the background score is satisfactory, the film’s dialogue writing and storyline are absolutely dreadful and bad.
What’s There?
• There are a few sequences in the movie where you can appreciate the cinematography.
• Anthony Hopkins’ performance is outstanding.
What’s Not There?
• The film suffers from some major issues like poor direction, unimpressive filmography, weak set design, and, most importantly, the dialogue writing is quite subpar.
• Misconduct is a clear example of lazy and uninspired writing in the film industry.
Verdict
The film fails to provide good entertainment and doesn’t have much success. The storyline seems to be flawed with too many loose ends and it fails to engage the audience. Shintaro Shimosawa didn’t execute the idea of the film well. The film isn’t promising at all, and we would recommend that you skip it. However, if you are into thrillers, you can give it a chance.
