The movie scenes were shot in the heart of the city and suburban locations of Baltimore, Maryland. The movie was premiered in Film Festival in Baltimore. The movie plot revolves around an 11-year-old boy who gets to know what it is to be a man. For the purpose of understanding, he spends a day with his role model, his uncle. Children should not be taught to go to work, and instead they should be taught to go to school.Â
The movie LUV is a standing example of the truth. Actor Common has done the role of Vincent in the movie. Woody, done by Rainy Jr. is the boy looking for a fatherly figure in his uncle Vincent. The movie plot unfolds with Vincent getting released from the prison. He stays with mom and nephew Woody. Woody is an introverted and shy boy who has to learn lot from his uncle. But the series of events which teaches the boy to be man puts a big question on his equation with Uncle Vincent.Â
The boy is taken to places where he just does not fit in. If it were not for some thematic material in the movie, the movie is pretty interesting. Vincent is charismatic, but underneath, there is an ugly past. Audiences are pulled to the edge of their seats especially when Vincent tries to go in for a risky heist.Â
But, it is heights of absurdity that he takes his small nephew with him to such an alien territory. The role of Vincent needs to be done with care, and a balance is required. Actor Common has done it with ease. Rainey Jr. has done well the role of an orphaned boy looking for paternal affection. Behind the faith and hope, there is agony and morbid fear. This shrewd note present in the movie makes it worth watching.
