The story of Jackie, neither a bad guy nor a cop, who tracks and kills the people who robbed the illegal poker game.
Plot:
Jackie has been assigned a task to kill Johnny ‘squirrel’ Amato, Frankie, Russell, and Markie. Markie runs an illegal poker game; that gets robbed by the Squirrel trio. A diplomat hires Jackie to kill all the robbers. But Jackie feels it necessary to kill Markie so that the confidence of mobsters gets raised. He kills his targets and story ends with him, demanding $10,000 for each shot from the diplomat. Jackie Corgan (

), is a character with his policies.
He never kills a person whom he met before. That's why he did not kill Mickey, who did not complete his task that was assigned by Jackie. Mickey was another guest role done by James Gandolfini, who loses his momentum after facing a jail term, and fails to do the task given by Jackie. The rest of the roles do not have much screen presence when compared to Jackie and Mickey.
We can have a glimpse of few short and light comedies here and there, especially the scene where Russell will be high on drugs and tries to escape. The way, director Andrew Dominik has linked the story, that was scripted in 1974, with the economic breakdown that was happening when the movie was shot, was brilliant.
He includes a few of the speech clips of George W. Bush and Barack Obama and made most of the narration, something related to the crisis. By simply conveying about the financial crisis and killing spree in the same movie, the director is simply diluting the novel.
Verdict:Â
An elaborated and complicated gangster film with stylish and classy aspects.
