Plot
The film follows Milgram family’s Christmas gathering. Tony and Beth hold the Christmas gathering, and their son Nick, his girlfriend Annji, their daughter Kate, her husband Scott, and their grandfather are in attendance. The family gathering goes smoothly in the beginning but turns gloomy after Kate makes racist remarks towards Annji. Sometime later they discover that the house is surrounded by some black substance which has trapped them in the house. The television in the house starts on its own and gives instructions to the family to bathe themselves with bleach and take the vaccine that came down the chimney. Their grandfather dies after taking the vaccine. Kate, Tony, Beth, and Scott lock Annji in a room with grandfather’s body when the television states that one of them is infected. Apart from Nick, the other family members strictly follow the television’s instructions, no matter how absurd they may be. The film follows Nick as he tries to fight against his entranced family to escape the house.
Star Performance
Grant Masters gives a boisterous, over-the-top performance. He is a loud character throughout the film. The cast could have performed a lot better.
Analysis
“Await Further Instructions” fails at being a proper thriller or horror film. The plot is rickety and the performances are weak. The film’s ending is disappointing.
