Plot
The movie is about a 30-year-old American woman, Jane Hayes. She is obsessed with Jane Austen and finds her world in his films and books. It was like a dream for her to find the love of her life just like in stories and books. When she saw an advertisement on TV about a resort in England based on the theme of Jane Austin’s movie and book, Pride and Prejudice. she decided to employ her entire savings on it to live the dream of her life. Despite her friend hindering her multiple times she departs for England. On reaching England, she met Elizabeth Charming at the airport and became aware that she was also going to the same resort as her. Both were picked up in a fancy-looking old car and were dropped at the resort gate. There Jane observes that she is unfairly treated compared to Miss. Elizabeth, because she possesses a platinum package, unlike Jane who could only afford a copper package. Jane didn’t mind all this because she was more interested in living the movie and getting to know the characters. Next few days she met multiple characters and felt a connection with Martin. Is Martin the one Jane was searching for? Will Jane be able to find true love? The rest of the movie revolves around it.
Star Performance
Keri Russell is brilliant with her little mannerisms and her facial expressions are so funny and cute. Ricky Whittle turns up as a recency beau Jennifer Coolidge describes him perfectly. The storyline is super funny and the entire cast is perfect. The actors/actresses played their parts very well and the story stayed true to the way Jane Austen would finish her stories.
Analysis
It is funny, cute, nostalgic, and the perfect movie for someone who isn't looking for a "real" rom-com. Mystical lines smuggled into the layers of comedic writing reveal themselves each time you watch, ad-libbed lines from some of our greatest comedic actresses and inside jokes with the casting make this one of the most underrated fabulous films ever. If you watch it till the end it has a cool plot twist and a terrific ending. The ending was a little surprising because romances usually don't have any plot twists and are generally predictable, but it is a beautiful and funny adaptation of Hale's novel.
