We all know that the cinematography in “Kumki” takes us along with the nature. The credit of that camera play goes to M. Sukumar. He is the cinematographer of “Myna” too. His brother Jeevan is also a cinematographer and director. Sugumar’s latest project is “Gethu”. Sugumar’s debut flick was “Ladam” by Prabhu Solomon. Almost all the Prabhu Solomon’s movies make takes us through the forest and the waterfalls.
Sugumar is completely satisfied with his work in “Kumki”. “Gethu” features Udhayanidhi Stalin as the hero. Sugumar says that, Udhay we saw till now will not bet there in “Gethu”. We will see a different form of him; his style, the way of dressing and his entire look is completely changed in this movie. Sugumar says, “working with the natural light is quite easy than in the lights set” and also he says,”Every director and the cinematographer should have a good chemistry. Only then, the cinematographer could bring the essence in the scene, which the director have gestured”. “Learning visually is the best lesson, the cinematographer gets. Theories will not help the cameraman much. When he learns practically; he could correct the mistakes, what he did in his previous attempt”, added Sugumar.
Sugumar feels proud that, he was lauded for his debut movie by the popular cinematographers, 'K V Anand' and 'R Rathnavelu'. He also feels proud, when Raju Sundaram inquired him, whether the shot was Jeeva’s. Sugumar likes the humbleness of Udhayanidhi and the Tamil by Amy Jackson. He likes Amala Paul very much for her simple makeups.
