“S. Janaki,” the nightingale of Indian cinema has decided to quit her playback singing career with a Malayalam song. The singer started her career in 1957 with Vidhiyin Vilayattu, a Tamil film. She has been in the film industry for more than fifty years. She also confirmed that she wouldn’t be singing in any functions and will not be recording any of her songs, hereafter. She has sung nearly 47000+ songs in her career. The legendary singer refused to receive the honourable Padma Bhushan in 2013, which she feels that she had been honoured too late. When asked about closing her career with a Malayalam song, she said, “I didn’t predetermine anything. When I want to quit, the offer came to my way and moreover, it is a lullaby, which is close to my heart.” The song was recorded last month in Hyderabad.
