The movie is based on the real incident that happened in Aligarh. The Aligarh University professor Ramchandra Siras was alleged in a consensual sex case. Manoj is donning a character that is based on Ramachandra Siras. Recently, the movie is screened at the 20th Busan Film Festival. Manoj Bajpai replied on his Twitter for the question asked by a fan, about the release of the movie. He said that the movie would be released on 15th February 2016.
