1. Aashiqui 2

None predicted that this Aditya Roy Kapur-Shraddha Kapoor starrer would turn out to be the most profitable venture of Bollywood. This 12 crore film went on to make a lifetime business of 85.4 crores in India. With this, it managed to earn a profit of 73.4 crores.

Profit Percentage - 612 % approximately.

2. Queen

One of the rarest movies which inspired an overseas remake. Every section of the audience liked the film. Driven by positive word of mouth, this Vikas Bahl directorial collected 61 crores at the box - office after being made on a budget of 11 crores. It made a profit of 50 crores.

Profit Percentage - 454 % approximately.

3. Tanu Weds Manu Returns

This ‘Aanand L Rai’ directorial was bigger and even better than its prequel, Tanu Weds Manu. After Queen, even this movie fetched Kangana a National Award. Made on an average budget of 31 crores, it collected 152 crores, taking its profit to a fantastic 121 crores.

4. Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani

YJHD is one of the biggest superhits of 2013. This Dharma Productions' movie gave tough competition to Ek Tha Tiger regarding business. As a result, it ended its lifetime run after surpassing the 190 crores mark. Made on a budget of 45 crores, it fetched a profit of a whopping 145 crores.This film gave a big boost to Ranbir Kapoor, Deepika Padukone, and Aditya's career.

Profit Percentage - 322 % approximately.

5. Hate Story 3

The Indian audience is highly unpredictable. Surprisingly, this erotic crime thriller registered its name to be one of the most profitable flicks of Bollywood. Hence, it collected 53.5 crores, after being made on a budget of 13.2 crores only. Therefore, it earned a profit of 40.3 crores, which is commendable enough for an adult film.

Profit Percentage - 322 % approximately.

6. PK

The most controversial movie of 2014, was a great money spinner. It dealt with the religious tensions around the country and struck the right chords with everyone. As a result, it is still the highest grossing movie of Bollywood. Made on a budget of 85 crores, it raced towards the 300 crore mark and collected a total amount of 339.5 crores. The profit stands at a humongous 254.5 crores.

Profit Percentage - 300 % approximately.

7. ABCD - Any Body Can Dance

Touted as India's first 3D dance movie, ABCD's plotline was similar to the Hollywood blockbuster “Step Up”. Still, it was accepted by one and all. As a result, it went on to collect 46 crores after being made on a controlled budget of 12 crores. Starring ‘Prabhu Deva’, Dharmesh Yelande and other dancing legends, it gained 34 crores.

Profit Percentage - 283 % approximately.

8. Neerja

Based on the real life incident of Neerja Bhanot who saved the lives of 359 passengers, Neerja was both a critical and commercial superhit. Perfectly blended emotions with the realistic portrayal of Neerja's bravery was lauded by one and all. Made on a budget of 21 crores, it had a long run at the box office and collected 75.6 crores. Hence, it earned a huge profit of 54.6 crores.

Profit Percentage - 260 % approximately.

9. Bajrangi Bhaijaan

It had a dream run at the box office, as it wasn't a typical Salman Khan entertainer. It was unstoppable from the word go. Made on a high budget of 90 crores, it collected 320.34 crores in India. As a result, it snatched away the 'blockbuster' tag with a profit of 230.34 crores.

Profit Percentage - 256 % approximately.

10. Pyaar Ka Punchnama 2

Starring actors with almost no star value, this turned out to be a successful franchise after becoming a surprise hit. This anti-love story collected 62 crores at the box office taking its profit amount to 44 crores, which is superb if we keep in mind that it is made on a budget of 18 crores starring newcomers.
