Sana Mir is a former Pakistan women’s cricket team captain. She was born on 5th January 1986 in Abbottabad, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan. She is from a military family. Her father was a clonal in the Pakistan army. She has to shift to different places due to her father‘s posting. She had completed her schooling in other areas. She earned a bachelor’s degree in statistics from the University of Karachi. She later obtained Master’s degree from the same University. Sana is considered one of the best cricketers in the history of Pakistan women’s cricket. She is known for her impressive bowling skills and has been a key player in Pakistan’s women’s cricket team for many years. Sana made her debut for the Pakistan women’s cricket team in 2005 and went on to became one of the team’s most successful players.
She has played in numerous international tournaments, including the ICC Women’s World Cup and the ICC Women’s World 20-20. She has been instrumental in helping Pakistan to achieve success on the international stage. Sana became the captain of the Pakistan women’s cricket team on 4 May 2009. Once she became captain, her focus on serving her nation became more evident. In the 2010 Asian Games, she led her team to a gold medal. In 2011, the Pakistan women’s cricket team won the national championship for the fourth time in a row at the domestic level under Mir’s successful captaincy. Sana’s captaincy also led the Pakistan women’s cricket team to win T20 and ODI format tournaments in Sri Lanka in 2011.
In 2012, Sana’s captaincy led the Pakistan women’s cricket team to win the first-ever BB tournament and the 7th national championship in domestic cricket. In 2013, Pakistan women’s cricket team won the second BB tournament, and Sana focused and captaincy led the team by improving their world ranking from 8th to 6th in a row. In 2014, Pakistan women’s cricket team won the gold medal by winning the Asian Games. Sana was also the first bowler for Pakistan to take a hundred wickets in ODI’s. In addition to her cricketing achievements, Sana is also known for her work as a women’s rights activist and has been a vocal advocate for gender equality in Pakistan.
Sana won numerous achievements and awards. In 2012, Sana was awarded the Hilal-e-Imtiaz, one of Pakistan’s highest civilian honors. She was also the first Woman Cricketer to receive the PCB Woman Cricketer of the Year award in 2013. She has also been named one of the top five women’s cricketers in the world by the International Cricket Council. She was also awarded Tamgha-e-Imtiaz, another prestigious civilian award in Pakistan, for her service to cricket.
