A literary family from Meerut, British India, gave birth to Fahmida Riaz on July 28, 1946. Riaz-ud-Din Ahmed, her father, was an educationalist who worked to plan and create Sindh's current educational system. She was a Pakistani poet, writer, and activist who wrote Urdu. Godavari, Khatt-e Marmuz, and Khana e Aab O Gil are only a few of the many novels she wrote. It was the first rhymed translation of Jalaluddin Rumi's Masnavi from Persian into Urdu. She was the author of over 15 books of poetry and fiction, and she was frequently the subject of debates. She was charged with utilizing carnal, sensual language, and occasionally an Islamist undertone when Badan Dareeda, her second collection of verse, was published. On November 21, 2018, Fahmida Riaz passed away at 72.
