He was born in Lahore, Pakistan. He completed his schooling and joined the National College of Arts, Lahore with the only aim of making music videos. While in his college days, he directed a few music videos. After graduating from the college in 2010, he got into the entertainment business right away. He started looking at his career seriously, producing content that meets quality.

His career commenced with him working as the Director of Photography in television series. He was the D.O.P. for series like Aangan, Sang-e-Mar Mar, Shehr-e-Zaat, etc. He worked in the industry as a cinematographer for eight years straight before jumping into direction. He firmly believed that he could tell stories through a perspective that is hitherto unknown to the audience of drama series.

In 2021, he wrote and directed his first drama series titled ‘Laapata’ which got wide reception among the Pakistani audience. Khizer has also made big-screen attempts in filmmaking with some critically-acclaimed movies. Some of his works include Zindagi Tamasha (The Circus of Life), Verna, Superstar, etc. He is also passionate about landscape photography. He spends his leisure time clicking pictures to tell a new story through his lenses.
