Tripuraneni Maharathi was a prominent and well-acclaimed screenplay writer and scriptwriter. He was born on 20th April 1930 in Pasmarru in Andhra Pradesh. His birth name was Tripuraneni Balgangadhar Rao. He became famous for his grasp of dialogues and ability to create sharp and engaging scripts. He primarily worked for dubbed movies that slowly became a full-time career in writing screenplays and dialogues for well-known Telugu films. Tripuraneni Maharathi came into the limelight with his contribution to the cinema Alluri Seetarama Raju in 1974. Maharathi has nearly 150 scripts to his credit. His filmography is extensive.
Sati Arundhati (1968), Kanch Kota (1967), Yodhanu Yodhulu (1961), Ranabheri (1990), Niluvu Dopidi (1968), and Ram Robert Rahim, starring Sridevi (1980) are some of the famous movies with the dialogues written by Tripuraneni Maharathi. He was not just a scriptwriter but produced some films in Telugu. Some of them are Desamante Manushuloye (1971), Bogimantalu (1982), and Raithu Bharatam (1994). Tripuraneni Maharathi was active in the political field alongside his career in scriptwriting. He had an important role to play in the creation of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP). He was also responsible for bringing in the idea of a regional party in Andhra Pradesh and building his party named Trilinga Praja Pragathi. His talents as a visionary have also inspired the Telugu population. Maharathi died at the age of 81 on 23rd December 2011.
