Pokuri Rama Rao was a South Indian film producer who worked in the Telugu film industry. He passed away in Hyderabad in July 2020 after suffering from COVID-19. He founded the production company Eetharam Films in Hyderabad, Telangana, with his brother Pokuri Baba Rao. Together, they have delivered many hit films such as Yagnam (2004), Ranam (2006), Yerra Mandaram (1991), Ontari (2008), Ammayi Kosam (2001), Desamlo Dongalupaddaru (1985), Neti Bharatam (1983), Bharat Nari (1989), Em Pillo Em Pillado (2010), Nava Bharatam (1988), Anna (1994), Repati Pourulu (1986), Devalayam (1985) and Navodayam (1983).
Their most famous production was the film Yerra Mandaram (1991), which did an excellent job of highlighting the crises of the people that belonged to the lower castes in South India. Pokuri Rama Rao, under the banner of his production company, produced movies that were dramas and thrillers but most prominently highlighted the socio-economic crises. He worked on satires and underlined the need for reform in society. The film "Yagnam," which was written and produced by the brothers, received many praises and was also dubbed in Hindi and renamed "Aaj Ka Raavan Aaj."
