His father established Annapurna Studios in his mother’s name Akkineni Annapurna in 1975. The Studios is based in Hyderabad and mainly is in the business of production and distribution of Telugu films and providing various production facilities. He became the manager of Annapurna Studios in 1978 and worked hard to turn it into one of the finest studios in the country.

He is also the Board Member and Advisor to Annapurna International School of Film and Media (AISFM) since January 2011. Akkineni Venkat finished his high school in 1971 from Hyderabad Public school and went to Loyola College in Chennai for his higher studies. He finished his Bachelors in Economics and Minor in Mathematics and Statistics in 1975.

He did his MBA majoring in Finance from the University of Wisconsin in the USA from 1975 to 1977. In 2007, he took up the position of Managing Director for Alufloride Ltd. The company, based in Visakhapatnam, is in the business of producing chemicals like Aluminum Fluoride and is rapidly expanding with the prospect of tying up with the KK Birla group. He is also the Board Member of the Foundation of Democratic Reforms in Hyderabad since the last two decades. He has a presence in the movie industry at a very young age.

He has been Director on the board of the AP Film Development Corporation. He was also a member of the Electronic Media Advisory Board to the Government of Andhra Pradesh. He has been an Executive member of the Film Federation of India. He is married to Akkineni Jyothsna and has a son Akkineni Adithya and a daughter Akkineni Annapurna. The legacy of his family is one that is respected and holds a lot of influence in the industry. Akkineni Venkat’s hard work and experience makes him an invaluable asset to the industry.

In 2023, there was a controversy surrounding Akkineni Venkat and his younger brother Akkineni Nagarjuna. It was rumored that they had some dispute related to the Annapurna Studios. However, Venkat slammed that those are baseless rumors and he is in a good relationship with his brother, Nag.
