Rajasree is an acclaimed South Indian Film Actress. Kusuma Kumari, her birth name, was born in the year 1945 in Eluru, West Godavari, Andhra Pradesh. She is also known by the names Rajasree.T, Gracy, and RajaSri. She got married to Thota Panchajanyam. Unfortunately, her husband died when her child was four years old. She was active in the film industry from the year 1956 to 1979. Today she’s living a decent life, spending her time in meditation.
She is a devotee of
Satya Sai Baba and often visits their Chennai center, Sundaram. She lives with her older sister, taking care of her. Rajasree started her career as a child actress in the Tamil film ‘Naga Devathai’. Then she went on to do films in Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam and Hindi from the early 60s to late 70s; she did more than 200 films in all these languages during this period. In the Malayalam films she credited herself with the name Gracy. Rajasree got noticed by the Tamil film ‘
Kadhalikka Neramillai’ (1964).
It was a romantic comedy film produce, directed and written by C V Sridhar. The film was made in Telugu by the name ‘Preminchi Choodu’ and also in Hindi by ‘Pyar Kiye Jaa’ starring
Shashi Kapoor and Kishor Kumar. Interestingly, Rajasree played her same character in both the remakes. She is notably famous for her princess role in several Telugu folklore films starring N T Rama Rao and Tadepalli Lakshmi Kanta Rao.
Rajasree had shared the screen three times with then actress and the present CM of Tamil Nadu Jayalalithaa and also with her mother, Sadhana in a movie playing the role of her daughter. In 2004, Rajasree was honored with MGR Award. This award is given after the popular Tamil actor, director, producer and politician M G Ramachandran. He also served Tamil Nadu for three terms as Chief Minister.
