Rajendra Kumar, was an Indian director and film producer who specialized in Telugu cinema. He was born in 1932 in Koruturu, Nellore district, Andhra Pradesh, India. He had two sisters and a brother named V. Mahesh, a film producer and a writer. Chalapathi Naidu got married and had two daughters and a son. Chalapathi started his career as an art director in the movie Chivaraku Migiledi in 1960, and later he produced his first film called Mathru Murthy in 1971. His younger brother, V. Mahesh, was listed as the producer of his movies in the published credits.

He worked on over 100 films as a publicity designer under his company Studio Roopkala. Apart from Telugu movies, he also worked in 15 Tamil films, including Urimai Kural and Madhurageetham. Some of his notable works are Ramudu Bheemudu (1964), Sri Krishna Tulabharam(1966), and Mathru Murthy(1971). Chalapathi Naidu passed away on February 13, 1981, in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India.
