On January 5, 1913, Shripad Narayan Pendse was born. He wrote several Marathi books. India's Maharashtra was the birthplace of Shripad Narayan Pendse. He was born in the Taluka Dapoli village of Mardi in the Ratnagiri District. A Sahitya Akademi Award was given to him for his book Rathachakra (The Chariot-Wheel) in 1963. As a part of the UNESCO Collection of Representative Works, which had been organized with Sahitya Akademi's assistance, his novel Garambicha Bapu was translated into English in 1969 under the title "Wild Bapu of Garambi." Pendse's other well-known books are Hadapsar (The Outcast) and Tumbadche Khot (The Khots of Tumbled). He was allowed to travel to Europe and the United States on a Rockefeller Foundation Scholarship, where he studied and discussed ideas with other novelists and intelligentsia.
With the aid of this scholarship, he and his wife could travel for more than a year. He met numerous well-known writers throughout his travels across England, France, and the US, including E. M. Forster. [Reference needed] The autobiography of SN Pendse includes a reproduction of EM Forster's letter to him on pages 243, 244, and 245. In November 1974, Mouj Publishers publication 228 published SN Pendse's "Lekhak Ani Manus" Ek Mitra. He died on 23 March 2007.
