Santosh Ram is an Indian writer, director, and producer respectively. Ram was born in the Maharashtra district of Latur's Dongershelki. Ram was raised in a middle-class household in the Indian city of Udgir, Maharashtra. Ram was affected by his poor upbringing in the Marathwada region. His short films Vartul (2009), Galli (2015), and Prashna (2020), which have all received awards and screened at international film festivals, are well-known. Vartul, his first short film, was played at more than 56 film festivals and received thirteen awards. The 2020 Filmfare Short Film Awards shortlist for Prashna (Question) was announced. Santosh Ram received a Special Mention (Writing) Iris Award at the UNICEF Innocenti Film Festival in Florence, Italy, in 2021 for Prashna. Santosh started as a writer and director of short films in 2009. Vartul, his first short film in Marathi, was filmed on 35mm film.
Vartul (2009) won thirteen awards after screening at more than 56 domestic and international film festivals, including the 17th Toronto Reel Asian International Film Festival in 2013 (Canada), Third Eye 8th Asian Film Festival in Mumbai, and the 11th Osian's Cinefan Film Festival in New Delhi in 2009. Galli (2015), his second short film, was shown at 13 national and international film festivals. His most recent movie, Prashna (2020), has been selected for 36 film festivals worldwide and is on the shortlist for the 2020 Filmfare Short Film Accolades. It has also won seventeen awards. He has received numerous honors and awards, including Best Film at the Fourth International Short Film Festival of India (2010) in Chennai, Best Film at the Second International Film Festival (2011) in Nagpur, and Best Director at the 2011 Pune Short Film Festival. 2013 Goa Marathi Film Festival, Best Film.
