Dhananjay Kir was also known as Anant Viththal Keer. He was born on 23 April 1913 in Ratnagiri, Maharashtra, India. His pen name was Dhananjay Kir. He was an English Author and biographer. He was married to Sudha, had six children, and had a father named Vithal and a mother named Devaki. He was an Indian biographer who wrote biographies of numerous well-known politicians and social activists. In addition to Jyotiba Phule and Rajarshi Shahu Maharaj, he also wrote biographies of B. R. Ambedkar, V. D. Savarkar, Bal Gangadhar Tilak, and Mahatma Gandhi.
Keer had assisted Savarkar in constructing a temple in Ratnagiri; "Free Hindustan" is where he started writing. In 1950, his first biography, one of Savarkar, was released. He then wrote biographies of Tilak and Ambedkar. He wrote Gandhi, Shahu, and Phule biographies after quitting his work. In 1971, he received the Padma Bhushan, and in 1980, Shivaji University awarded him an honorary degree.
