Hailing from Mumbai, Maharashtra, Vipul Vilas Mahagaonkar is an Indian Theatre Director, Assistant Director, Writer and Artist who predominantly worked in the Theatre Industry. He finished schooling at Manav Mandir High School. He later studied B.com at University of Mumbai. He perceived great interest in film and art industry. To pursue his dream, he later studied at Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan’s Hazarimal Somani College of Arts and Science. He initially started out as a backstage artist for inter-collegiate plays. After much working with directors and observing and learning the point of directing, storytelling, he took to directing plays.
He became an associate director at Sagar Pictures in 2014 and worked there for almost a year. He later became a member of the NCPA or National Centre for Performing Arts. He was an Executive for Production and Projects. He worked at the NCPA for nearly two and a half years. In December 2022, he joined the Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre as an Associate Programmer. His most popular plays were Khidki which was played out in October 2015 and Spandan which was played out in December 2015. His Documentary projects include Mukti – Singing for the dead and Aranyahrishi – Sage of the Jungles, both released in 2021.
