Poonam Sane was born on July 22, 1988 in Pune, Maharashtra. Her father is a bank manager, and her mother, Vandana Sane, is a classical singer. Since her childhood, she had a passion for art and culture. She went to school in Pune and was an ever-energetic participant in all the cultural events. Later, she pursued a degree in Arts at Fergusson College, while continuing her theatre training simultaneously. During this time, her teachers noticed her talents, leading her to participate in local theatre activities. She got noticed by the Pune theatre circuit.
