A renowned Marathi actress and a popular theatre artist, Indira Chitnis has served the film industry, over three decades. She was born in 1930. She is a versatile actress and has played various roles in more than 110 films. 1947 was an important year in her life as she entered Bollywood and made her debut as a supporting actress in Kuber. Indira Chitnis is well known for her roles in Nandini (1969), June Te Sone (1967), Tuch Majhe Vaheni (1966), Thoratanchi Kamala (1963), Molkarin (1963), and Sonyachi Paule (1962). June Te Sone was her last contribution to Bollywood. She was awarded Best Character Actress for her role in Thoratanchi Kamala and Best Supporting Actress for her role in Gariba Gharchi Lek by the state government. She died on 17th September 1982, at the age of 52.
