K. P. Harihara Puthran was an Indian film editor who was primarily engaged in the Malayalam film industry. He worked relentlessly in the industry for over 5 decades and has edited several hit films in his career. Harihara was born on 3rd January 1944. His journey in the industry began when he started working as an assistant to K. Sankunni, another renowned film editor, for the movie Vilakku Vangiya Veena in 1971. After eight long years of hard work, Harihara finally set out to work as an independent editor for the Malayalam movie, Kalliyankattu Neeli in 1979. Over the years, he had an active career and edited over eighty movies between 1979- 2019. Some of his notable works are Sukhamo Devi, Sheshakriya, Punjabi House, Chathikkatha Chanthu, Pandipadda etc. After working for over 50 years, Harihara culminated his venture in the world of editing with Sohan Lal's The Great Indian Road Movie in 2019. Four years later, at the age of 79, Harihara Puthran died at his residence in Thiruvananthapuram on 26th August 2023.
