SB Satheesan

SB Satheesan is a Malayalam singer. Satheesan spent his childhood in Chemboor, Venjaramoodu, Kerala. He opened his career as a tailor. He owns a tailoring shop named S.B. Stitchings at Chembur. He was introduced to the Malayalam film industry by producer Adoor Gopalakrishnan.

B. Satheesan is a national award-winning costume designer who has been a major contributor to the Malayalam film industry. He is a very creative person and has won nine National awards.

Satheesan was born in Chemboor, near Venjaramoodu, Kerala.

Satheesan started his career as a tailor; he trained with one of his neighboring tailors; further, he went on to start his tailoring shop and named it 'S.B. Stitchings at Chemboor. His work was noticed by film producer Adoor Gopalakrishnan when Satheesan designed costumes for a local theatrical production and hired him.

Satheesan’s talent and work were much appreciated; he has worked on over 125 movies, including some of the Malayalam industry’s most successful movies such as Kathapurushan (1994), Ananthabhadram (2010), and Iyobinte Pustakam (2014). He is well-known for his carefully crafted and designed costumes.

Satheesan’s work has won him many awards as well. He is a recipient of the Padma Shri, the fourth-highest civilian award in India. He is also a member of the National Film Development Corporation of India's Costume Advisory Committee.
