Nilambur Balan was an Indian actor in Malayalam Industries. He hails from Vatakara, Kozhikode district Kerala, India. Balan worked in theaters as an artist before coming into movies. He was one of the most promising supporting actors in all of his Malayalam films. He worked in around 50+ moves in his lifetime. He got married on 8 Dec 1957 with Vjayalakshmi. They were not only life partners but started as business partners as well.
They opened their drama troupe named Kalithara. They have performed in several plays together. Balan’s wife is Theater Award-winning actress of Kerala. He has three children Vijayakumar, Santhosh, Asha. After his death on 4th Feb 1990, an award was instituted in the memory of actor Nilambur Balan by the name Nilambur Balan Anusmarana Samithi, for all the artists who gave their contribution in theater and cinema field.
