Onew is a South Korean singer, songwriter, host, and actor. His birth name is Lee Jin- Ki. He was born on 14 December 1989 in Gwangmyeong-si, South Korea. He is active in the entertainment industry since 2008. The music genres he generally works in are K-pop and R&B. He started his singing career as a part of the boy band Shinee in 2008 and is the leader of the group under SM Entertainment.

In 2010 he started his songwriting career, where he wrote the lyrics for the song Lucifer. He has also been a part of extended plays such as Voice (2015) and has released singles such as Starry Night (2016), Lullaby (2017), and Blue (2018). He has also featured as an artist in Play the Field (2018) and has made soundtrack appearances in songs such as Shadow (2021), Goodbye Days (2021), Meet Me When the Sun Goes Down (2021), and Dear My Spring (2021).

Onew has also acted in films such as I Am (2012) and SMTOWN The Stage (2015). He has also been a part of television series such as Dr. Champ (2010), Descendants of the Sun (2016).
