Korean Actor Lee Joon-gi

Lee Joon-gi is an actor, singer, dancer, and a model from South Korea. He was born in Busan, South Korea, on April 17, 1982. He is interested in both sports and computers. His parents and younger sister make up his family. In his spare time, Lee enjoys learning and performing various sorts of martial arts. After seeing a production of Hamlet as a high school student, he became interested in the performing arts. After graduating from high school, he ignored his parents' wishes for him to attend university and instead went to Seoul to work in the entertainment industry. Joon-Gi worked at several part-time jobs for the next few years until being accepted into the Seoul Institute of the Arts.

In 2001, he made his debut as a print and commercial model. Joon-Gi got his first significant acting role in the TV drama "Star's Echo" in 2004. In the Japanese film "The Hotel Venus," Joon-Gi made his first appearance on the big screen. In 2004, Lee Joon-Gi worked on his debut Korean film, "Flying Boys." After small roles in numerous dramas and films, he landed his first prominent acting role in the 2005 movie "The King and the Clown."  Following the premiere of the film, Lee became a "pretty boy" icon in South Korea. It is a term used to denote a handsome man with attractive features. The drama "My Girl" was a smashing success both domestically and overseas, propelling Lee deeper into the Korean Wave spotlight.

Lee worked on his first drama prominent role in “Time between Dog and Wolf”, an MBC action drama. His performance in this drama marked a significant milestone for him, as it allowed him to shed his "beautiful boy" image while also emphasizing his martial arts background. Lee was named the “2008 Seoul Hallyu Festival's Ambassador 2008”. To mark the Government Legislation Agency's 60th anniversary, he was also named the first Honorary Legal System Officer since its founding. In addition, Lee was named a promotional ambassador for the Korea Tourism Organization in 2009. Lee enrolled in the Republic of Korea Army in 2010 to fulfill his necessary military duty obligations.

He has changed talent agencies multiple times and he is currently represented by Namoo Actors, a talent agency from South Korea. His period drama “Gunman in Joseon” (2014) received critical accolades for his acting and action sequences, topped the ratings, and received international recognition (especially in China). He was casted as Wang So in “Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo”, and while the production was not well received domestically, it earned worldwide acclaim, resulting in a surge in Lee's fame in China. Fans were able to see the final episode of Moon Lovers with Lee in attendance at a free fan meetup named "My Love Lee Joon-gi" organized by him.

Lee joined the Lotte Duty-Free Shop as a new model in 2016. He also appeared in the company's promotional online drama “7 First Kisses”. Lee then made his Hollywood debut in “Resident Evil: The Final Chapter”, the sixth and final episode in the Resident Evil series. For fight sequences, he rarely utilizes a stunt double due to his ability in taekwondo and various other forms of martial arts and is regarded as one of the country's best action actors. Lee has been in a variety of films and television drama, including "Fly, Daddy, Fly," "Virgin Snow," "Drama City: What Should I Do?", "Arang and the Magistrate," "The Scholar Who Walks the Night," "Hotel Del Luna," "Flower of Evil," and others. In addition, he has also appeared on reality shows. His albums include "My Jun, My Style," "J Style," "My Dear," etc. "Hello Korean 1 (2010), 2 (2013), 3 (2014) with Lee Joon-gi" is a Korean textbook that features him.

In 2010, Lee co-starred in the military musical “Voyage of Life” with fellow actor Ju Ji-hoon to mark the Korean War's 60th anniversary. In addition, he sang the MBC “Arang and the Magistrate's” original sound tracks (OST) - " One Day Click to look into! >> Read More... ."

He has received numerous honors and nominations over his career.  Honorary Ambassador for the 10th Bucheon International Fantastic Film Festival, Goodwill Ambassador for cultural exchange between Korea and China, Promotional Ambassador of Ritz-Carlton Seoul, and other titles were bestowed upon him.

He received numerous awards, including Best New Actor, Top Excellence Award, Best Couple Award, Hallyu Star Award, Best Male Asian Star, and many more.
