Korean Actor Cho Seung-woo
Written By - Team Nettv4u

Cho Seung-woo was born in South Korea on March 28, 1980. He is both an actor and a singer. He is popular for his appearances as a leading actor in the movies, The Classic (2003), Marathon (2005), Tazza: The High Rollers (2006), and Inside Men (2015), as well as the stage musicals Jekyll & Hyde, Hedwig, and the Angry Inch, and Man of La Mancha. Cho Seung-woo comes from a musical family: his father, Cho Kyung-soo, is a singer, and his elder sister, Cho Seo-Yeon, performs in musical theatre. Cho had a childhood goal of being a musical performer, but in 1999, while he was a student at Dankook University, he was encouraged to apply for Im Kwon movie Taek's Chunhyang. He ended up landing the part from a field of 1,000 actors. Chunhyang would be the first Korean film to compete in Cannes, but it failed to draw a large audience at home.

Following his cinematic debut, Cho performed in musicals, including Subway Line 1 and The Last Empress. However, he was quickly lured back into the movie business, with a significant supporting role in Wanee & Junah (2001), a villainous performance in H (2002), and a leading role in Who Are U? (2002). Cho received positive acclaim for his portrayal of Son Ye-jin in Kwak Jae-romance Yong's The Classic in 2003. His fame grew, and he starred in Im Kwon-99th taek's film, Low Life, in 2004. Cho's breakthrough came in early 2005, with the smash movie Marathon, in which he starred as an autistic young man who finds solace through running. The movie sold over 5 million tickets, and Cho, who was 26 at the time, received several awards for his performance, including Best Actor at the 2005 Grand Bell Awards, Best Actor at the 2005 Baeksang Arts Awards in the film category, and Best Actor in the foreign movie category at China's Hundred Flowers Awards.

Cho made his reappearance in the 2010 production of Jekyll and Hyde after finishing his obligatory military duty. Cho was especially moved by the musical because he rose to fame when the show first aired in Korea in 2004. Cho made his small-screen debut in 2012 with ‘The King's Doctor’, a historical drama based on a true story of a Joseon-era low-class veterinarian who specializes in horse care and climbs to become the royal physician. Cho received the MBC Drama Awards' top honor ("Daesang," or Grand Prize) for his performance in The King's Doctor. Cho appeared as a prosecutor with little empathy in tvN's mystery thriller drama Stranger in 2017.

The series was successful, receiving positive feedback for its compact narrative, compelling scenes, and great performers. Cho's work in Stranger earned him a Baeksang Arts Award for Best Actor in TV. In 2018, Cho appeared in Feng Shui, the third chapter of Han Jae-"divining rim's art trilogy." He also appeared in Life, a medical drama on JTBC. He is also well-known for his appearances in the television series The King's Doctor (2012), God's Gift: 14 Days (2014), Stranger (2017, 2020), Life (2018), and Sisyphus: The Myth (2021).
