She is the title winner of Miss India Universe contest in 1988. Dolly Mattoo was born on 8th February 1968 and raised in Chandigarh, India. After winning the Miss India Universe contest, she took a plunge in acting and started working in television shows and movies. She made her feature film debut in the Hindi industry with the movie Dastoor (1991). Dolly Mattoo fell in love with the director of Dastoor, and they got married in 1997.

She proceeded to work in films and series across languages such as Hindi, Punjabi, and Kannada. In Kannada alone, Dolly has acted in more than ten movies. Dolly Mattoo made her debut in the television series with the show Hindustani in 1996. She appeared in several popular soaps such as Shaktimaan (1999), Ramayan (2001-2002), and Aisa Des Hai Mera (2006) in pivotal roles.

Dolly Mattoo was acknowledged as India's first cat woman for playing a similar role in the show Shaktimaan. Since 2005, Dolly has been acting in significant supporting roles in the films and series.
