Ranjan Negi is a renowned hockey player, but his introduction into Bollywood dates back to 2007 when the film, ‘Chak De’, was released. Based on his personal life, as the film was sketched and written, it led to a lot of curiosity as it was a Yash Raj Film, and even had Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan Shah Rukh Khan or also known as SRK is a prominent >> Read More... mediating the role of a coach in the film. The writer of the film was Mir Jaideep Sahni, who handled even the screenplay and the script of the film. Besides this, Negi was physically involved in training Shah Rukh Khan for the film. This amounted to name and fame for Negi in the media and showbiz world.

Later, he broke the tradition and entered dance reality shows like ‘Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa 2’, and climbed to the semi-finals, but lost and later made an exit. He was the only participant who was not from the TV screen and film world. Yet, the way he climbed to the semi-finals of the episode, surprised many. The reason he attributed to the participation in the show, ‘Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa 2’, was to build a hockey academy in the name of his son who died at the age of 19 due to an accident. Although, Negi lost, he was quite optimistic that he would be able to fulfill his dream of constructing a hockey academy in memory of his son. Due to his fame from ‘Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa 2’, Negi later was offered a brief role in the Garhwali language film," Subero Ghaam’.

After Negi’s participation in dance reality shows, many cricketers too followed the same path and started participating in the dance reality show, ‘Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa’. Negi was even supposed to appear in a Hindi movie, but there have been no clues as to how far it has progressed. Bitten by the charm of Bollywood glamor, the hockey actor and reality show participant has another feather in his cap by releasing an audio album.
