Initially, his parents were not supportive and had to face a lot of criticism from his family. His parents wanted him to pursue B. Tech. They did not see acting and dramatics as a stable career option. Sharma acted in around 46 movies while he was working under the government service. While working for the police in Chandigarh, Sharma did a number of plays. Till date, he has appeared in over 80 films. He did four films in 2016. Doordarshan gave him his first break.

His acting in Jatt and Juliet was praiseworthy. He is an astounding actor. He is funny and has a natural sense of humor. His acting comes easy and natural and the audience loves him. When Sharma was a little boy, his father was very strict. He realized at a young age that he was an artistic person. He worked in the movie Carry On Jatta. The movie came out on December 2, 2016.
