Babita Kumari Phogatis is an Indian wrestler who won gold in the Commonwealth Games in 2014. She also earned silver medals in the 2018 and 2010 Commonwealth Games, as well as a bronze medal at the 2012 World Wrestling Championships. On November 20, 1989, Babita Phogat was born. Babita won the gold medal in the women's freestyle in the 51 kg division in the event in Jalandhar, Punjab. Babita won the silver medal in the women's freestyle in the 51 kg event at the 2010 Commonwealth Games after losing to Ifeoma Christi Nwoye of Nigeria in the gold medal match by a score of 0-2, 4-5.

Babita won the gold medal in the women's freestyle in the 48 kg event in the competition in Melbourne, Australia. Babita fought Hsin-Ju Chiu of Taipei in the Round of 16 in the 2012 World Wrestling Championships, which she won 5:0. Her quarter-finals opponent was Japan's Risako Kawai, whom she defeated 5:0 to get to the semi-finals. In the semi-finals, she was defeated 1:3 by Jessica Anne Marie MacDonald of Canada. She was subsequently eligible to compete for the bronze medal in the women's freestyle 51 kg division, which she won by defeating Russia's Zamira Rakhmanova 5:0. Babita earned the bronze medal in the women's freestyle 55 kg event at the 2013 Asian Wrestling Championships in New Delhi, India, with Han Kum-ok of North Korea.

Babita's first opponent in the quarter-finals of the women's freestyle 55 kg division at the 2014 Commonwealth Games was Kathryn Marsh of Scotland, whom she defeated 9-2, 4-0. (classification points 4:1). In the semi-finals, she faced Louisa Porogovska of England, whom she defeated 2-0 (classification points 5:0) - won by fall (wrestling terminology). She faced Brittanee Laverdure of Canada in the gold medal match, winning 5-0 and 4-2 (classification points: 3:1). Babita failed to duplicate her Commonwealth Games success in the 2014 Asian Games in Incheon, South Korea. She fought Srey Mao Dorn of Mongolia in the Round of 16 in the women's freestyle 55 kg event, which she won 5:0. In the quarter-finals, she played Kazakhstan's Aiym Abdildina, whom she defeated 3:1. In the semi-finals, she was defeated 0:4 by Olympic champion Saori Yoshida of Japan. She was eligible to compete for the bronze medal but lost 1:3 against China's Xuechun Zhong.

Babita Kumari Phogat won silver in women's 53 kg freestyle wrestling at the Gold Coast Commonwealth Games in 2018. Babita Kumari announced her engagement to a fellow wrestler named Vivek Suhag in June 2019, whom she eventually married in November of the same year. Babita Phogat joined the BJP on Monday, August 12, 2019, but was defeated in her maiden election. On January 11, 2021, she and her husband had their first child, a baby boy. In August 2019, she joined the Bharatiya Janata Party, claiming to be heavily inspired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. In the Haryana assembly elections in October 2019, she was defeated by Sombir Sangwan from Dadri (Haryana Vidhan Sabha constituency).
