Anindit Roy is a guitarist turned sound engineer who has done over one hundred and thirty films with a National Award in his kitty. He works predominantly in the Bengali movie industry. Born on 28th January 1985, Anindit Roy grew up in Kolkata, India. He completed his schooling at Naktala High School in Kolkata. He did his Bachelors of Science degree in Physics from Dinabandhu Andrews College, affiliated with the University of Calcutta. Further, Anindit Roy studied Audiography from Satyajit Ray Film and Television Institute. Anindit Roy excelled in playing guitars and gradually developed an interest in music.

He got married to Purba Mitra in 2016. Anindit Roy started his career as a guitarist for bands like EeTeez, Jihaad, Naireet, and more under the name Sunny. Being around music all the time, he decided to explore audio post-production and filmmaking. In the entertainment industry, his journey started in 2011 as a freelance Sound Engineer. He worked as a re-recording mixer and sound engineer for the documentary ‘Quarter No. 4/11’ and the short film Beauty. Since then, there is no turning back for Anindit Roy, as he did over twenty-five films in 2012 and 2013 as a dialogue recordist, sound engineer, sound editor, and dialogue editor.

Some of them are Shabdo, Tabe Tai Hok, Aborto, Antaraal, Hanuman.com, MishawrRawhoshyo, Khokha 420, and more. Anindit Roy worked as Sound Engineer for the 2014 documentary named ‘Tender is The Sight,’ which is about teenager Hassibullah and his challenges with visual sensibility. For a year, he performed as an assistant Film Mix Engineer for Yash Raj Films, and later, he left the job to join as a Sound Mixing Engineer in Aural Workstation in 2015. With the experience of working over a decade, Anindit Roy has done phenomenal works with around 140 movies in his filmography.

Besides films and documentaries, Anindit Roy has worked on television series, including Feluda Pherot, Charitraheen, Taqdeer, Damayanti, Rahasya Romancha series, etc. Anindit Roy has been the recipient of the West Bengal Film Journalists’ Association’s Best Sound Designer Award six times, and out of which, he has won the award twice. He has also bagged the Indian Recording Arts Academy Awards in 2017 for his commendable work.
