Milind Ingle

Milind Ingle, is a famous Marathi singer, music director, hailing from Pen, a small village in Maharashtra State. He has a prestigious family background. He belongs to the famous, Gwalior lineage. His father, Pandit Madhav Ingle, was a leading champion of classical music. Thus, Milind has an enviable linage. Milind’s grandfather and great grandfather, both were singers at Royal courts, in cities of Ichalkaranji and Sangali located in south Maharashtra. Milind Ingale, was professionally succeeded, when his album ‘Garava’(Cold breeze)was released. The poet/lyricist of this album was the famous, Soumitra. Soumitra, himself narrated each song in the album. This album captured the minds of the people. In ‘Garava’, we hear birds chirping, the sound of raindrops and other such natural sounds. For that sole purpose, he invested 16 hours just in getting these sound effects perfectly, paying the recording team on per hour basis. Hence, even today, we can feel the magic of the song. This success made him bring another music album for the people. The name of the album was, ‘Saanj Gaarva’(Evening Cool Breeze). Same success was tasted by this album too. This time, the poetic reading of the songs on this album, was done by the famous Marathi and Hindi actor, Sachin Khedekar. Other than these two Marathi Albums, Hindi album titled, ‘Yeh Hai Prem’ was also made by him. This album too received a good response from the audience. During an interview, he said that Ghazal was his first love. But after the ‘Garava’, people forgot that he is a Ghazal singer. His journey for Ghazal started when one of his friends brought a record of Pakistani singer, Mehdi Hassan. When he heard that Ghazal, for the first time he just thought that its good. Hearing such a plain review from Milind, his friend insisted him to hear it the second time. So he listened that, once again at a fine night. After listening for the second time, it struck in his head, that this is something fantastic. From that moment itself, he became a huge fan of Mehdi Hassan and Ghulam Ali. So he thought of learning Ghazal to have a classical base. He received his classical training in music from Pandit Yashwantbua Joshi. He is extremely lucky to learn details of Ghazal singing from celebrated Late Shri K. Mahavir and Shri Rajkumar Rizvi.
